BillCrunch
Launched in July 2020, Billcrunch offers a smarter way for Australians to save money on their energy bills through a new engagement approach powered by technology.
A growing issue: Complex & inefficient energy market
The average Australian household overpays around $400/year on energy largely due to the complexity of the market and it’s ever changing nature (rates, tariffs and discounts). Consumers have become increasingly disengaged, keeping households on longterm expensive energy plans (consumer inertia)1
As people spend more time at home, household energy bills increase dramatically2 extenuating this issue. Frustrated by the inefficiency of incumbent solutions, Billcrunch co-founder, Bar Galon, decided (while dodging high-pressure sales calls) to tackle this problem in a unique way.
Not your ordinary comparison site
Billcrunch is a free, mobile-friendly service which makes comparing, switching and saving money on energy a breeze. Instead of relying on a call-centre, Billcrunch relies on providing a superior user journey, great plans from an extensive (and growing) panel of providers and a profit-sharing/ rewards scheme.
Best of all, once a user switches through Billcrunch the system keeps monitoring the market and will notify when a better plan becomes available, allowing users to switch to a cheaper plan in a couple of clicks, ensuring they never need to worry about overpaying.
The plans ahead
Billcrunch plans to deepen its green and solar energy offerings while expanding to other similar household services characterised by consumer inertia (eg insurance, broadband). “We want to empower Australians to better manage their household spend through the power of technology- helping them stay on top of things and keep more of their money” said Bar.
