Have a great idea you want to research? The innovation connection facilitation grant connects startups and SMEs with researchers and funds collaborative research projects.

Who is this for?

Any startup or SME operating or planning to operate in one of the following areas: 

  • Advance manufacturing; food and agribusiness; medical technology or pharmaceuticals; mining technology and services or oil, gas and energy resources (“Growth Sectors”); or  

  • Any startup who is providing technologies or services to a Growth Sector (think freight and logistics, infrastructure related construction, information and communication technologies, digital technologies or professional services).

What do you get?

Stage one: A skilled advisor who will assist you to:

  • discuss strategic research opportunities in new or existing markets;

  • identify critical research areas for improving your products, processes and services; and/or

  • find ways for your business to work with the research sector.  

Stage two:  Access to one of three grants (depending on your needs):

  • Researcher Placement – this grant places a researcher in your business to work on a specific research project (up to a maximum of $50,000); 

  • Business Researcher Placement – this grant places a researcher from your business into another business to work on a specific research project (up to a maximum of $50,000); or

  • Graduate Placement – this grant helps employ a graduate or postgraduate with a relevant degree into your business to work on a specific research project (up to a maximum of $30,000).

You can apply for this grant at any time.
