Is science your startup’s jam? CSIRO’s kick start grant is for startups and SMEs keen to partner with Australia’s Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) in research activities to help them grow their businesses.

Who is this for?

Technology startups and SMEs keen to utilise CSIRO expertise to undertake research activities that will enable your startup or SME to: 

• Research a new idea with commercial potential; 

• Develop a novel or improved product or process; or 

• Test a novel product. 

Which areas does this grant focus on?

To be eligible for this grant, you need to be focusing on one of the following areas: 

• Agriculture and food;

• Data 61;

• Health and Biosecurity;

• Land, Water, Ocean and Atmosphere, Energy, Mineral Resources and Astronomy; 

• Australian Animal Health Laboratory; and 

• National Facilities and Collections. 

What do you get?

Matched funding between $10,000 and $50,000. Eligible businesses are also able to apply for a second Kick-Start project after completion providing the total funding received does not exceed $50,000.
